When I was a kid, my grandmother and I shared a special bond over our love for trains. She always made sure to buy me my favorite train toys whenever we went out. And our favorite pastime was riding the LRT train in the metro, with her holding my hand tightly as we watched the city rush by.
But it wasn’t just about the toys and the train rides. My grandmother’s support for my passion for collecting train toys was what truly made me happy. And when I turned 10, she surprised me with a Thomas train set, adding to my ever-growing collection.
As I grew older, my love for trains only intensified. I would spend hours watching documentaries and reading books about them. And even today, I still collect train toys, each one reminding me of the happy memories I shared with my grandmother.
And as I grew older, she started taking me on train trips to different parts of manila, exploring new routes and experiencing the thrill of the railroad. As we traveled together, I saw a different side of my grandmother – a side that was adventurous, curious, and full of life. And it was during these trips that our bond grew even stronger, filled with laughter, stories, and a shared love for trains. Now, whenever I see a train, I can’t help but smile and think of my grandmother. Still she is supporting my love for trains and making sure I never lose the childlike wonder and fascination for the world of locomotives
